Pick Up A Dropped Egg.

If an egg breaks on the kitchen floor, pour some salt on the mess and leave it there for at least 20 minutes.

You'll be able to wipe it right up.

Remove Sangria And Red-wine Stains From Your Washables.

  • Stretch the fabric over a bowl.
  • Cover the stain with salt, and
  • Carefully pour boiling water over it.

Chill A Bottle Of Bubbly — FAST

  • Place the bottle in an empty ice bucket.
  • Add ice around the base of the bottle in the ice bucket.
  • Sprinkle with a few tablespoons of salt.
  • Layer salt and ice until they reach the neck of the bottle.
  • Fill the bucket with water.
  • Wait about 10 minutes and serve.

Keeping Windows Frost-free

Rub the inside of windows with a sponge dipped in a saltwater solution and rub dry; the windows will not frost up in sub-freezing weather.

Rubbing a small cloth bag containing salt that has been moistened on your car's windshield will help keep snow and ice from collecting.

Prevent frost from accumulating inside car windows. Rub the glass with a solution of 2 teaspoons of salt in 1 gallon of hot water. Wipe dry.

Cleaning Fish Tanks

Rub the inside of fish tanks with salt to remove hard water deposits, then rinse well before returning the fish to the tank.
Use only plain, not iodized, salt.
